Ann E. Caldwell, PhD
Principle investigator

Dr. Caldwell is a researcher at the University of Colorado – Anschutz Medical Campus who studies weight loss and health behavior change. Dr. Caldwell brings knowledge of traditional multi-component yoga practice and has completed 300 hours of foundational and advanced teacher training in yoga asana and pranayama in intensive, residential courses at Samahita Retreat in Thailand under Paul Dallaghan and Sri O.P. Tiwari - one of the world’s leading experts in traditional pranayama breathing techniques.

Victoria Catenacci, MD
Study doctor and Co-investigator

Dr. Catenacci is a board certified endocrinologist and prominent weight loss  researcher with expertise in interventional trial design and oversight. She leads several similar weight loss trials in people with overweight or obesity and will ensure participant safety for this study.

Paul Dallagan
Co-investigator

Paul is an internationally recognized expert in traditional multi-component yoga after over 30 years of dedicated learning in classical yogic texts and advanced training in asana from Patthabi Jois, pranayama from Sri O.P. Tiwari, in addition to advanced scientific study. He and his team at Samahita Retreat created the yoga videos for this project specifically for people with larger bodies. He is currently completing his PhD dissertation at Emory University.

Sarah A. Purcell, PhD
Co-investigator

Dr. Purcell is a postdoctoral researcher interested in energy balance (energy in [food consumption], energy out) in different contexts. She has studied metabolism, nutrition, and appetite in several populations such as people with obesity or cancer and older adults. She is helping facilitate this study by running study visits and interpreting information on diet and appetite.
